Clive Pursehouse

We are pleased to welcome Clive Pursehouse, North American Editor, Decanter Magazine, as Special Guest and School of Cool Keynote

Clive Pursehouse is the North American Editor for Decanter magazine, responsible for growing Decanter’s reach in the North American market in addition to covering the regions of Oregon and Washington. Before joining Decanter, he was the Culture and Travel Editor for the road cycling lifestyle magazine Peloton. He feels like it’s important to say he voted for the other guy. Clive first fell in love with wine through the cool climate wines of Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Since then, regions like the Sonoma Coast, Finger Lakes, The Mosel Valley, Slovenia, Alto Adige and now Ontario have further stoked his passion for wine. Clive’s pursuit of cool dates to his junior high school days, painful days as an awkward teen with bad skin. The concept of cools seemed so elusive, something only for others. In cool climate wine, he’s finally found a cool within reach.

“As a kid growing up in Pittsburgh, watching Mario Lemieux play for my beloved Penguins, I’ve always known that there’s a special kind of cool in Canada. I’m excited to dig in further with the attendees of the School of Cool, where, at least for a few minutes, I’ll get to offer my own take on the essence of Coolness, the future of global viticulture and the importance of this conversation happening in Niagara for wine lovers from Oregon’s Willamette Valley to the cobbled streets of London. Cool is the future, let’s go there together.”
